LIGHT UP A LITTLE LANTERN
The little lantern is easy to make. It’s a great decoration for any celebration.
You can place these lanterns on a table over an LED tealight or hang them over a string of lights.
When you print this page you’ll notice that there are two lantern patterns on each page. If you are making this project with a large group of children, you can save paper by cutting each sheet in half, so each child has one lantern to decorate.
LET’S LOCATE LOTS OF LETTERS
If you are working on letter sounds, here’s a game you can play with the little lanterns. Put a few letter magnets on the table. (For example use the letters l, a, n, t, e, r, n.) Space them out so there’s room around each letter. Have your child use his/her lantern to “circle” the letter you are looking for. Say, “I’m looking for the letter at the beginning of the word lion. Can you find it?” Or, “I’m looking for the letter at the end of the word clover. Can you find it?”
